Team Leader/East TN Training Coordinator
Mike Sass is the Team Leader/East Tennessee Training Coordinator. He provides professional development for community rehabilitation service providers on a regional basis and coordinates statewide team activities. He develops resources and promotes best practices in areas such as job development, job coaching and natural supports. In addition, he partners with Tennessee Department of Human Services, Division of Rehabilitation Services, to develop and conduct training for newly hired professionals in the employment services field and provides ongoing continuing education. He works to facilitate the development of local employment opportunities for people with disabilities so that they may fully participate in their community. Mike has been in this role since October, 1996.
Previously, Mike started the vocational program at Helen Ross McNabb Center, was a district manager for Manpower, Inc., and transitioned high school students to employment. He holds a national certification approved by the National Commission for Certifying Agencies (NCCA) as a “Certified Employment Support Professional” under the oversight of the Employment Support Professional Certification Council. Mike is currently on the Employment Support Professional Certification Council as a part of the National Association of People Supporting Employment First (APSE). Mike and his wife, De, live in Sevierville, Tennessee and love to travel.
