Owen Tharp
East TN Training Coordinator

Owen Tharp is the East Tennessee Training Coordinator. Joining the team in May of
2019, he provides professional development for community rehabilitation service
providers on a regional monthly basis through a partnership with the Tennessee
Department of Human Services, Division of Rehabilitation Services. He develops
resources and promotes best practices in areas such as job development, job coaching
and natural supports and conducts training for newly hired professionals in the employment services field. Owen graduated from the University of Colorado at Denver in 2016 with a Master’s in Early Childhood Education, focusing on informal education. He brings this foundational work to his East Tennessee regions, where he enjoys blending ECE theories, activities
and ideals with his professional development training topics. Owen has over two years of managing two Project SEARCH sites and a Pre-ETS curriculum staff in Tennessee. Owen also developed a budding speaking career, where he has presented at the PIE Conference, MegaConference and the Tennessee Project SEARCH State of the State. When not training, Owen likes to experiment in the garden, train his dog and play music
with his wife in Knoxville, TN.
